The red crayola - 'hurricane fighter plane'

The Red Crayola was a Psychedelic band of the '60's. It consisted of Frederick Bartheime, Lora Logic, Allen Ravenstine, David Thomas, and Markus Oehien. This song 'Hurricane Fighter' is taken from the same titled double album recorded in 1967 and 1968. It is the cornerstone famous song from the double album and is typical avantgarde '60's rock. Originally released on Lelan Rogers fabled International label (home of 13th Floor Elevators and Bubbly Puppy, among others). The song is from a double album which is uncompromisingly weird and moves right beyond the psychedelic to 'freakishly strange'. This song has a squalling organ solo by Roky Erickson from the 13th Floor Elevators playing in it. The Red Crayola invited a group of fellow travelers, into their recording studio at the time, and Roky Erickson who came into the studio, added a lot of bite to this song. Will feature a few of the other songs from this great album further down the track.

I love the visuals, but not so sure about the music ..... Perhaps this type of psychedelic just isn't me!

Why don't you try some psychedelic music for your next album ... ? NK

Yes, The Red Crayola isn't everyone's cup of tea. Yes, thanks for your comments, I think I might try and do a psychedelic album soon. I did a semi psychedelic album called 'Impasto Mascara and Psychedelic Nylon Flesh'. Might be due for another one.

Love the visuals; love the music. It's definitely my cup of tea. In the tribal, insistent, and fixed drumbeat that accompanies the track and in the declamatory style in which the lyrics are delivered, I can definitely see a trajectory leading to punk. Thanks for posting such interesting music and for the "historic" background. It's much appreciated.
